MTAC - Certificate of Merit Program

MTAC is a professional organization dedicated to excellence in music education. 

After about a year of lessons, students have the option to partake in the Music Teacher Association of California's Certificate of Merit program. This is an annual leveled assessment program, that requires commitment and dedication. Testing includes Repertoire, Sight Reading, Technique and Theory/Ear Training. Preparation starts in the fall, and the final submissions are in February.

This was my first year entering students in the CM program. After inviting 10 of my students to enroll, four chose to enter. I was so proud when all four not only passed, but also received state honors!

In 2023, fifteen of my students entered! It was busy, and fulfilling. I am proud of my students hard work and dedication. Levels entered were Preparatory - Level 5. Of the 15 students, 13 achieved state honors.

In 2024,  eleven of my students entered.  Levels entered were Preparatory - Level 6. Eight of the eleven students earned state honors. Let's see what 2025 brings, as I have a student striving for Level 7 and her senior award!
